Good government makes life better

Bill Carlson is running for mayor to bring good government to Tampa

"A city's greatest achievement is the life its people get to live."

The goals we choose matter. Tampa is rich with iconic spaces. But for too long, city leaders have treated buildings and projects like trophies. Yet they are just a means to an end. The real measure of this city must always be our people, and how well they are prospering.

— Bill Carlson

A better way forward

Your taxes go further, not higher

Property tax revenues are at a record high yet the city still struggles to deliver basic services. That's a management problem, not a revenue problem. We don't need more of your money, we need to modernize how we use it.

Your neighborhood has its own plan

Some neighborhoods are growing too fast. Some watch as their character is bulldozed. Some patiently await renewal. You and your neighbors know best what your neighborhood needs and what it doesn't. City Hall follows your lead and makes it possible.

Your happiness drives the economy

The best economic growth strategy is a neighborhood worth loving. Happy people plant roots, build families and start companies here. Strong neighborhoods make happy people. Happy people build stronger neighborhoods. Good government fuels the cycle without straining the city.

You feel the difference all around

When City Hall runs well, you don’t think about it. You just feel it with safer streets, better jobs, faster permits, stronger neighborhoods, and places that only grow in character. The basics work. The numbers add up. Bill will fix the system to make this all within reach.

Bill believes Tampa deserves the best. He has traveled to more than 100 countries, worked in Singapore—the world’s best-managed city—and studied at Harvard’s Kennedy School. Not for the credentials. For the ideas. Then he came home to Tampa and got to work.

As a neighborhood champion, activist, business leader, arts advocate, devoted father, and City Council member, Bill has spent decades quietly shaping Tampa into the city we love. Until someone tries to undermine us. Then he's anything but quiet.

MEET BILL CARLSON

Global perspective. Hometown purpose.

VISION. EXPERIENCE. RESULTS.

Everything you want in a mayor.

Bill Carlson sees the big picture and knows the details.

Bill aces all the issues. Transit. Affordability. Economic development. Budgets.  Neighborhoods. Fiscal policy. Environment. He's spent thirty years solving hard problems for governments and businesses around the world, learning what works and what doesn't. But Bill doesn't just understand Tampa's challenges. He sees how they connect. Fix the right things in the right order and everything else unlocks.

Bill Carlson intuitively gets Tampa because he's lived it in so many ways.

Student. Employee. Business owner. Renter. Homeowner. Father. Neighborhood leader. Community volunteer. Arts supporter. Public servant. Local history buff. TPA frequent flier. Traffic jam captive. Pothole survivor.

Bill has experienced Tampa’s joys and frustrations from many perspectives. Although, he’ll tell you none shaped him more than being a parent to his three sons.

Bill Carlson knows Tampa's government inside out. He knows how it can do better.

For 8 years on City Council, Bill listened, learned, and carried your stories. He saw what gets in the way. How decisions get made. Where the money goes. Who really benefits. He demanded answers. He advocated for you. He stood firm. But City Council members don't run Tampa. The mayor does. So that's where we need Bill next.

Bill Carlson doesn't flinch. Doesn't fold. Doesn't stop working for you.

Bill stands up for neighborhoods, refuses backroom deals, and demands transparency. Some people can't handle that. Special interests have tried to slow him down many times, especially now. But Bill remains unbothered. His focus stays where it always has. On you.
